Every county in Indiana is divided into townships.
A Township Trustee is an elected civil servant who is responsible, among other things, for the poor assistance provided to the township's residents.
This may include assist with utilities (you do not pay deposits, re-connection fees, or fines).
Each Township Trustee has several guidelines based in some way on standards set by the state.
Requirements:
Photo ID for anyone in the household older than 18 years, Social Security card, birth certificate, VISA, green card (not expired) and/or resident alien card.
Each person in the household must ensure the same level of identification.
To ask for help, call the Township Trustee.
In more populated townships, the trustee may have staff to assist in the application process.
Others take over the process themselves.
Applicants may be required to provide documentary evidence of income, invoices, etc. If services are refused, the applicant must receive a form PR-1A stating the reason for the refusal.
