Each Indiana county is divided into cities.
Township trustees are elected officials who, among other duties, are responsible for the welfare (poverty relief) of township residents.
This may include assistance with food, shelter, utilities (does not pay deposits, re-connection fees or penalties), clothing, household goods, medical services and funeral expenses.
Each municipal administrator has different guidelines based to some extent on standards set by the State.
Requirements: Indiana photo ID for anyone in the household older than 18 years, Social Security card, birth certificate, VISA, green card (not expired) and/or resident immigration card, copy of the lease, and disconnect energy bill.
Each person in the family needed to provide the same level of identification.
To ask for help, call the trustee of the Township.
In more populated townships, the trustee may have staff to assist in the application process.
Others will handle it themselves.
Applicants may be asked to provide documentation such as income and bills. If denied services, the applicant must receive a PR-1A form stating the reason for the denial.
