Greater East Texas Community Action Program (GETCAP) is a private non-profit corporation established in 1965 to offer a variety of programs and services to assist low-income individuals and families. Individual programs are designed and implemented to address specific problems, but the combined programs provide a broad base of support for the residents of twenty seven counties in East Texas who are served by the agency. Energy Assistance Services target low-income households with high energy burdens. One-time only assistance is possible with electric or gas. Some households qualify for assistance for more than one month. Target client populations are the elderly/disabled, households with children five years of age & under, and working for low-income families. Households may apply by mail or schedule an appointment by calling 936-720-7474. Numerous counties are served.

How do I go about applying for utility bill assistance, online or by mail? Can instructions be provided for either printing the application to be filled out, with the address provided to which it should be mailed, or the site where an online application can be submitted?
I went to my Community Action appointment on January 6,2020 to get help with payment of my light bill. I completed the application and the full process with the Case Manager Mrs.Linda Lewis and was approved to get help with my light bills, winterization of my house and other services if possible. I received a notice of disconnect for my light bill for January 22,2020 and I am wondering what is going on with my assistance..Please contact my as soon as possible...
