The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, commonly known as LIHEAP, is a federally funded program that assists low-income households that are struggling financially to pay for their electrical bill. LIHEAP is administered by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO), which disburses these funds directly to local agency providers throughout the state of Florida.
You may be able to apply for LIHEAP assistance up to three times a year but not every month. It will also depend on the funds available in your county. After applying and if approved, your local LIHEAP provider will make the payment directly to the utility company on your behalf.
