The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, financed by the federal government, helps households that need support to pay the cost of household energy.
Homeowners and tenants with 200% of federal anti-poverty regulations can apply them.
All heating and cooling sources, including electricity, gas, oil, kerosene, wood, propane, natural gas and coal, are eligible.
This program doesn't pay for all your heating bills, but it is an important financial supplement.
A cooling aid for the house is provided during the summer months if funding is available.
Applications for heating assistance are processed from October 1 to March 31.
Funds from the federal government usually do not arrive until the end of December, when energy benefits become available.
